Margaret De Heinrich De Omorovicza, Omorovicza

Born Margaret Dickerson in Jacksonville, Florida, Margaret started doing internships at 18, for Time magazine in London. Then with the American talk-show host, Conan O’Brien in New York, followed by an internship at W magazine.

At the age of 27, Margaret was approached with a job offer to become diplomat in Budapest. It is here she became chief of staff to the US Ambassador to Hungary, Nancy Brinker. While in Budapest she met her husband and co-founder of Omorovicza, Stephen de Heinrich.

It was while Margaret took a post in Brussels, as chief of staff to the US Ambassador to the European Union, and Stephen in London, that the idea of starting their own skincare brand came to fruition. Budapest is a city rich in spas and Stephen’s family happened to own the beautiful Rácz, which dates back to the 16th century. Stephen and Margaret married in 2005. The following year they launched their company from a tiny office in a beautifully decaying courtyard in Budapest.

Now in its twelfth year, Omorovicza is sold in some of the world’s finest stores – Liberty, Harrods, Neiman Marcus, Lane Crawford – and has a loyal band of fans won over by the anti-ageing powers of its innovative, mineral-rich formulas. It has grown 50% every year since its launch. Margaret is excited for the company’s future, with a London store on the horizon and efforts to restore the Rácz spa. The dream is that the children will take over the business one day.

Margaret and Stephen run the company while also raising four children and juggling various charity projects (Margaret works with the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leader programme and is a founding member of the British Fashion Council’s trust promoting young designers). Margaret is also an enthusiastic art collector, fashionista and enjoys throwing a dinner party or two.

Margo Marrone is a pharmacist, homeopath, entrepreneur and co-founder of The Organic Pharmacy.

Growing up in pre-revolution Iran, Margo’s love of all things herbal began when she was very young, on shopping trips to the bazaar with her mother, visiting the local apothecary who created health remedies on request, dipping into bags of herbs and mixing tinctures.

The family moved to London when Margo was 11 and aged 16, she landed a Saturday job in the local chemist. It was an old-fashioned place, with amber glass pharmacy bottles lining the walls, filled with exotic-sounding, Latin-named tinctures, powders and pills.

Captivated by watching the chemist blending the elixirs and ointments, Margo decided there and then that was what she wanted to do. Her pharmacy degree at Kings College London led to a specialisation in herbal medicine when Margo realised that an alternative approach that was closer to nature, was where her true calling lay. In her quest to find an approach to health that she believed in, she came across Dr Bach’s book on flower remedies. Bach started as a homeopath and Margo found that the principles of homeopathy suited her way of thinking.

Whilst studying homeopathy and after becoming pregnant with her daughter, Margo became interested in the nascent organic food movement as awareness around the chemical treatment of soil and crops started to come to light. Her idea for The Organic Pharmacy was born then, with the intention to create a destination for health and beauty treatments with a dispensing homeopath and a shop where customers could buy, secure in the knowledge that everything on the shelves was organic. For the rest of her pregnancy – the gateway to organic for many women now, Margo struggled to find cleanly-formulated products. Using her pharmacist and homeopath background she began to work on her own formulations, persevering when manufacturers told her that paraben-free, organic products could not be created. In 1998, Margo gave birth to her daughter, Roksana, and her first organic products: Herbal Toner and Mother & Baby Massage Oil. A range of products followed, as Margo found herself mixing creams and serums for friends and family.

Now pregnant with her second child, Margo felt ready to set up The Organic Pharmacy – a new way of thinking about health and beauty, so in 2002 she and her husband opened the doors of the first The Organic Pharmacy store on London’s Kings Road. The shop was an instant hit and has won legions of loyal fans and a cult following with Kylie Minogue, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, Robbie Williams, Katy Perry, Tom Hanks, Elle McPherson, Beyoncé, Daisy Lowe, Kiera Knightley among many others.

The Organic Pharmacy has become a destination and a trusted name in health and beauty and is now in over 36 countries, stocked in luxury spas and department stores. The Organic Pharmacy is an innovative concept of a 21st century luxurious organic apothecary and urban day spa with homeopathic tinctures, blends, beauty treatments and own label effective, organic, green, fair trade and lovingly made skincare, body care, makeup products and supplements.

In 2009 Margo wrote her first book: The Complete Guide to Natural Health and Beauty and in 2019 trained as a shaman, became a Yogini 200hrs teacher of ashtanga yoga as well as co-founding Charlie Co Naturals, 100% natural pet products. Sarah Brown, founder and CEO of Pai Skincare is an organic skincare pioneer whose expertise developing all-natural, efficacious products was born from her own experience living with challenging skin.

Sarah developed Chronic Urticaria in her mid-twenties and started mixing her own formulations from her garage as a last ditch solution for her hyper reactive skin.

Pai launched in 2007 at a time when the organic category was under-developed and clean beauty wasn’t yet a thing. Sarah was one of the early champions of certified organic, responsibly cultivated ingredients, passionately believing in their therapeutic properties when many around her didn’t. Pai continues to formulate, manufacture and distribute all products from its own custom built facility in West London.

This development process is owned end to end, giving the company creative freedom, full visibility of the supply chain and vigilance over production processes. Sarah believes this due diligence leads to unique, ownable formulations that are of a higher quality.

In 2015, Sarah won ‘First Woman in Manufacturing’ at the CBI First Women Awards in recognition of her commitment to British manufacturing.

Before Pai, Sarah was International PR Manager for E&J Gallo Wines in California, having previously managed communications for brands such as Nike and Barclaycard. In 2015 Sarah was appointed to the Board of CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women), and won their Achiever Award the same year. Sarah was promoted to the CEW’s Executive Board in 2018.
