Botanical beauty brand Wildsmith has partnered with packaging specialists Shellworks, to introduce an innovative packaging solution designed to eliminate waste from product packaging.
Starting from March 2025, Wildsmith has begun offering two of its best-selling skincare products—the Active Repair Copper Peptide Cream and Ceramide Repair Balm—in Vivomer, a fully compostable material.
Over the course of the year, four additional products—Active Repair Nourishing Cleansing Balm, Super Hydrating Overnight Mask, Dual Action Exfoliating Treatment, and Double Clay Refining Mask—will also transition to Vivomer as the brand phases out its existing glass jars.
What is Vivomer?
Vivomer is a biodegradable alternative to traditional plastic, designed to offer durability while minimizing long-term environmental impact. Developed from a biopolymer derived from naturally occurring microbes and plant-based sources, it mimics the functionality of plastic without persisting in the environment. When disposed of in home compost, soil, or landfill, the material is recognized by microbes as organic matter, allowing it to decompose.
