For the tenth consecutive year, @givaudan will be sponsoring the CEW Responsible Beauty Award. This award differs from the other categories in the 2021 CEW Beauty Awards as it is judged by a panel of experts, the judges for this year's award are:

Jo Fairley, Co-founder of @greenandblack's and @beautybibleofficial, is an author of 20 beauty books and a contributor on beauty to Waitrose Weekend, Natural Health and the Daily Mail. For nine years she chaired the Soil Association Health and Beauty Standards committee, helping to set the standards for organic cosmetics certification.

Amarjit Sahota, Founder and President of @ecoviaintelligence, has worked in the wellness and sustainability industry for over 20 years. Within his company, he organises the Sustainable Foods Summit, Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, and Sustainable Cleaning Products Summit.

Peter Price-Thomas, Director of Sustenance Limited. For the last twenty years, Peter has helped organisations proactively tackle the challenges and opportunities of sustainability.

Wren Holmes, Head of Development and Consulting at @brandsbotanic, has worked within the personal care, health and wellness sector, as well as a number of multi-award-winning brands.

Applications for the Responsible Beauty Award close on 21st May 2021. The sampling requirement for this category is 30 retail sized products and you may enter an individual product, range or a brand.

Following the highly successful launch of their first @harrodsbeauty store in Lakeside, Essex last year, tomorrow @harrods will be continuing the roll out of its H Beauty concept and open the doors to their second stand-alone beauty store.

The new H Beauty store located in Milton Keynes spans some 29,000 square feet and will offer products and services from more than 90 beauty brands and from May 17th will also open its Champagne Bar with a specially curated menu from the Harrods team.

Each immersive store offers ‘playground tables’ and ‘magic mirrors’ so customers can experiment with fragrance and cosmetics. The store offers demonstrations and consultations with a skincare station especially for facials.

"The core and the concept of the H Beauty stores remains the same. H Beauty is a beauty wonderland with expertise at its core, it wants to be inclusive and to help people look and feel better." - said CEW Achiever and Director of Beauty at Harrods, Annalise Fard.

In an industry first @renskincare has joined forces with leading skincare brands; @biossance, @caudalie, @herbivorebotanicals and @youthtothepeople on a groundbreaking new sustainability initiative - #WeAreAllies

Spearheaded by REN CEO @ameysselle, the multi-brand campaign, a first of its kind, aims to help tackle the environmental crisis by reducing packaging waste. REN are committed to reaching zero waste by the end of 2021, and all of the brands in the initiative have committed to more planet friendly packaging by 2025. 

Arnaud Meysselle notes: “Prestige beauty is obsessed with packaging: luxurious packaging, wasteful packaging. But with more demand, brands are starting to realise that there’s no unsustainable future. The future has to be sustainable, or you cannot deliver great formulations.”

@unilever has revealed that it will be partnering with the Universities of Liverpool and Oxford to reduce the carbon footprint of personal care products.

Unilever will aim to reduce the carbon footprint of everyday consumer products such as shampoo and laundry detergent. The collaboration will see researchers invent and design sustainable materials from waste through methods such as carbon capture.

The partnerships will not only help decarbonise the global supply chain and contribute to the UK’s net zero ambitions but they will also help to drive local economic growth and create highly skilled jobs.

Richard Slater, Chief R&D Officer at Unilever, said: “To achieve the UK’s Net Zero goal by 2050 we need a transformation of the global chemical supply chain. This partnership is an important milestone towards this, driving forward important research on new renewable and biodegradable materials for everyday products, such as laundry detergents.”

Founder of The Hut Group, @matthew_moulding, has pledged to donate £100 million of the online retailer’s shares along with his entire annual salary to charity following an extraordinary period of dynamic growth for the business.

Matthew intends to give the huge contribution to the Moulding Foundation, which he and his family set up last year and which has recently pledged £5m to support the construction of a new campus at The Seashell Trust, a residential school for seriously disabled children based in the North West. The move, which comes just seven months after The Hut Group owner THG’s initial public offering (IPO), sees him become one of the UK’s biggest philanthropists.

The 'Best New Electrical Appliance' category now allows health, hygiene and cosmetic appliances that are mains or battery operated such as hair stylers, home IPL devices, electrical facial cleansers, epilators and facial treatment aids to be entered into the awards.
