Apart from the amazing member benefits you get, participating in the programs offered by CEW and the up-to-date news and insight about the industry is truly rewarding. I feel like I am part of a supportive community.
What is the most exciting aspect of your current role?
The fact that no two days are the same is very exciting. Each day comes with its own challenges, and the notion that you can actualise ideas and concepts by deploying resources effectively is always exciting.
What do you enjoy most about working in the beauty Industry?
It is just how dynamic the industry is and how accessible it has become in recent years. It has created opportunities for so many and allowed many to dream of horizons they perhaps hadn’t previously imagined.
What are you most excited about for your business in the next twelve months? Â
We have several new product launches coming up both in our main and adjacent categories. I am truly happy that we are able to persevere in the business and grow.
What do you feel is the most important quality for someone to possess in order you have a successful career?Â
In one word – Resilience. There are inevitable challenges which come up in the arc of any career, and the ability to stay the course and weather those challenges eventually leads you to success.
How important has mentorship been in your career journey?
Incredibly useful. I have found having people to sound off your ideas, thoughts and plan with moves you away from siloed and narrow thinking.
What advice would you give to someone starting in the industry today?
Do your research well to understand what niche you want to carve out for yourself in the industry and then pursue it persistently.
From your perspective, what is the biggest challenge for the beauty industry in the next two years?
The supply chain is really in dire shape, and how we can respond and improve that would be vital to the growth of the industry – especially for small to medium-sized brands.
What are the values that you believe are important in developing a successful beauty business?
Authenticity, Quality and Efficacy.
What learnings have you taken from the unprecedented events of the past two years?
That you must be ready to adapt your business model to a changing environment. New ideas are required for the types of challenges we have recently faced.
What’s the most important piece of advice you have been given during your career?
Don’t give up!
How can we better support women in the workplace?
CEW already does an incredible job with the resources it provides and the opportunity to learn from those who have experience. Making these resources as easily accessible as possible will help women.
