Isabel Greiner, co-founder and CEO of Intuisse
Why is CEW membership important to you?
The camaraderie and opportunity to network with other senior female leaders in the industry is invaluable. They also provide a platform to help foster relationships and nurture emerging talent and serve as a foundation of knowledge for insights, trend reports and industry news.
What is the most exciting aspect of your current role?
The constantly evolving number of hats I get to wear. My background is in marketing and brand development but now my role is multi-faceted – from speaking to our team of scientists about formulations to working on projections for new launches. It’s both stimulating and insightful to be working across all aspects of the brand and allows me to have both a macro and micro lens on the business.
What are you most excited about for your business in the next twelve months?
The launch of our spa in New York later this year. I was raised in the city and spent most of my career working there for several leading, global beauty companies. I currently spend half my time in London and half my time in NYC, and I recognise that there is a real demand from consumers who wantvisible results and relaxation in a luxury space with high-performance products. Maison Hudson will be the first of several global opportunities for clients to receive high-touch spa experiences with state-of-the-art Active NAD+ skincare.
From your perspective, what is the biggest challenge for the beauty industry in the next two years?
Sustainability! This is a huge priority for consumers so it’s important for brands to be able to offer them beauty with purpose. Our brand promotes responsible skincare ensuring the health and longevity of our skin and our planet. We strive to avoid single-use plastics by using 100% recyclable refills, multi-use applicators and our cartons use FSC-certified materials and are 100% recyclable. All our bio-active formulations are clean and non-GMO.
I feel it is important for brands, especially new brands, to prioritise and offer sustainable solutions from the outset as increasingly this is becoming a customer expectation rather than a consideration.
How important has mentorship been in your career journey?
Extremely important, especially early on in my career. In each role I’ve had I’ve found a champion to help me get access to opportunities. The right mentor can be hugely empowering – they can offer you guidance and objectivity on professional decisions. Many of my mentors have remained close to me and I continue to seek their advice.
What advice would you give to someone starting in the industry today?
Talk to as many people in the industry as possible and make meaningful connections. If you’re launching a new brand or product listen to everyone’s feedback and integrate it into your proposition. Be agile – try to be as flexible in your approach.
What learnings have you taken from the unprecedented events of the past two years?
The business environment is unpredictable, and we must be extremely agile as business leaders. It has also reminded us to prioritise resilience, especially the health and wellbeing of our team members and customers and above all to find joy in small moments.
What’s the most important piece of advice you have been given during your career?
Feedback is a gift!
