Formula Botanica is delighted to announce that its popular, members-only site, The Lab at Formula Botanica, has gained accreditation from the CPD Certification Service UK.
Members of the Lab at Formula Botanica now receive externally accredited, continuing professional development (CPD) certification on successful completion of the Lab’s monthly training modules. These “Mini Labs” cover up-to-the-minute topics in the world of advanced natural cosmetic formulation.
Formula Botanica is recognised as the leading online teaching institution for organic formulation and indie beauty entrepreneurship. This latest achievement is a testament to the school’s ability to shape the professional training of natural, organic cosmetic formulators.
The cosmetics industry typically sees CPD delivered informally and does not have a history of providing structured tools for formulators to ensure their knowledge and skills are kept up to date. With Lab membership going beyond the Formula Botanica student community to include anyone with an interest in formulation, the school is helping fill this glaring gap in the market.
Commenting on the Lab’s new CPD accreditation, Formula Botanica CEO Lorraine Dallmeier said: “We’ve seen thousands of formulators go through our award-winning online courses and invest significant time into learning how to create botanical formulations. We want to support the formulation community by offering them a platform that keeps their education up to date. I am so proud of the accreditation we’ve now achieved for the Lab through CPD UK”.
With a finger on the pulse of the natural beauty sector, The Lab provides value to natural cosmetic formulators through its unique combination of professional training, the latest cosmetic science research, ingredient, formulation and equipment libraries, and live masterclasses with external experts who provide insights into the trends and topics shaping the industry.
Leading industry figures who have delivered expert training to the Lab include Thomas Kerfoot of O&3, Colleen Quinn of LabAroma and LabCannamist, and Nina Kocevar Glavac of the CosmEthically ACTIVE journal and certification.
Once enrolled in the Lab, members gain access to its entire library of content which, to date, numbers some 32 mini-labs as well as 64 in-depth ingredient profiles detailing chemical constituents, cosmetic action and available scientific research. With its constantly updated online libraries, the Lab’s resources rival those of published cosmetic textbooks, which need expensive, time-consuming reprints to remain current.
Through a personalised online dashboard, members can determine their own learning path, monitor their progress through the CPD modules and assessments and download CPD-accredited badges and certificates to share on their personal and professional media and platforms.
“Through our collaboration with CPD UK, the content within the Lab is externally accredited on an ongoing basis. This gives our community peace of mind that all the content meets the CPD requirements and is key to helping them become better formulators,” said Formula Botanica Education and Lab Manager Ana Green.
Experienced in delivering advanced formulation training in a succinct format, The Lab has also proved the ideal platform for Formula Botanica to launch capsule breakthrough training courses. Early in 2022, the Lab hosted Formula Botanica’s first makeup formulation courses covering botanical lipsticks and plant-based blushers. These pioneering short courses covered the complexities and science of plant pigments and the practical formulation skills required to create botanical colour cosmetics.
The CPD membership site has gone from strength to strength since its launch just over two years ago. Originally created as an in-house CPD for Formula Botanica course students, the Lab membership model proved so successful and in demand that the school opened it to non-students. The Lab is now a significant arm of Formula Botanica, complementing its portfolio of diploma and certificate courses in organic cosmetic formulation and beauty entrepreneurship.
