Irish skincare brand Ella & Jo has announced its official certification as a B Corporation – a noteworthy step in its ongoing commitment to responsible business practices within the beauty industry.
Founded in 2017 by makeup artist Charlene Flanagan and skin therapist Niamh Ryan, Ella & Jo has built a reputation for innovative, results-driven products that aim to simplify skincare routines while prioritising sustainability and wellbeing. The brand now becomes the 66th company in Ireland to achieve B Corp status.
B Corp Certification is awarded to companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability. The certification reflects a company’s commitment to balancing profit with purpose, and Ella & Jo joins a growing global network of over 8,000 businesses that includes the likes of Patagonia, Aesop, and The Body Shop.
“Becoming a B Corp is much more than a badge for us – it’s a promise,” said co-founder Niamh Ryan. “It reflects our dedication to doing business differently – consciously, ethically, and sustainably.”
Ella & Jo’s path to certification involved a comprehensive evaluation of its operations, covering areas such as supply chain transparency, recyclable packaging, employee wellbeing, and community engagement. The certification process also includes a commitment to ongoing improvement, with reassessment required every three years.
“Our mission has always been about more than skincare – it’s about empowering people to feel confident in their skin and confident in the choices they make,” said Charlene Flanagan, co-founder. “Achieving B Corp status reinforces that commitment and pushes us to do even more.”
The brand’s certification positions it among a growing number of beauty companies striving to lead with purpose, and further cements Ella & Jo’s role as a key player in the movement towards a more inclusive and sustainable industry.
