Meet the CEW Board!Â
On Wednesday 25th April CEW were thrilled to celebrate one year of the CEW Young Executive programme with a very special evening hosted by the members of the CEW board. With a wealth of talent between them, the CEW board invited all Young Executive members to attend the event to develop their networking skills and discover top career tips.Â
CEW invited guest speaker Charlotte Reich from Thrive Consulting to open the event and to provide the Young Executive audience with some top tips on how to make the best of networking opportunities. Charlotte opened her talk by openly admitting that she used to be a ‘networking-phobe’ and provided the audience with numerous examples of times when she was left feeling embarrassed or inadequate during social situations.
Today, Charlotte is the Director of her own consulting group and shared her impressive knowledge on how to make the most of networking events with the CEW audience. Her tips included; recognising your own personal ‘gremlin’ – the one personality trait that always lets you down in social situations; learning that you must always have something interesting and memorable to say about yourself when you meet people; to always make an effort to take an interest in new people you meet and to always follow up with new contacts after you’ve assured them that you’ll be in touch.
Following Charlotte’s inspirational talk on mastering the art of networking she challenged the Young Executive audience to come up with some ‘killer questions’ to ask the CEW board members. These questions ranged from ‘What has been the biggest setback of your career?’ to ‘How have you managed to maintain a successful work-life balance?’ and were designed with the aim to gain as much insight into the CEW board member’s success as possible.
The Young Executive members were then invited to meet CEW’s board members in a ‘speed networking’ style format providing each attendee with the opportunity to network with the 12 board members in attendance. The event generated some excellent feedback where Young Executive members were able to pick the brains of some of the most successful women in the beauty industry. Some of the most insightful comments generated from the event include; always be agile with your work-life and do not think that you have to pick a career path and stick with it forever; always trust your instinct and take different opportunities you are presented with if they feel right in the moment and always have confidence and believe in yourself so that you are able to deal with setbacks in a positive and productive manner.
Overall, the evening proved to be an incredible success with some of the most highly-regarded members of the beauty industry offering their expert insider knowledge to the Young Executive audience. After a triumphant first year there is no doubt that the Young Executive membership programme will be going from strength to strength as CEW continues to support and encourage emerging young talent across the beauty industry.Â
