Next month on 6th October, Julia Vearncombe, co-founder at Skin:Genius, will launch the brand’s first in-person and on-line event FaceUp2It.
This event will bring together experts and those with first-hand experience of anxiety, bullying and/or living with a skin condition to share their insight and expertise. The aim is to raise awareness and bring support to those suffering with mental health issues, anxiety and bullying through having skin conditions.
Over the past few years, we’ve learnt more than ever about the importance of self-care and well-being and the positive effect that beauty can have on how we feel. In skincare, the physical aspects of skin conditions are usually front and centre, with the psychological effects taking a back seat. Both are equally important and it is important to talk about both aspects in our conversations around skincare and skin conditions.
“I am lucky to be the mum to two wonderful teenagers, but I’m sadly all too familiar with the heightened anxiety around appearance and have heard many stories of people feeling helpless and alone in their quest for “good skin”. In my role at CEW, the largest professional membership organisation for the beauty industry, it is a great privilege to collaborate with peers and experts from across the sector to promote and support the launch of FaceUP2It and the work of the Anti-Bullying Alliance,” Sallie Berkerey, Managing Director, CEW.
You will hear from the best experts in their field who are qualified, understand and/or have experienced anxiety, mental health issues or bullying and have the opportunity to ask questions. The panel will include:
Sallie Berkerey – Managing Director of CEW
Dr Ellie Cannon – GP, broadcaster and health writer
Nicola Bonn – Beauty expert, radio presenter and podcaster
Scott McGlynn – Actor, podcaster and TV presenter
Julia Vearncombe – Skin:Genius Co-Founder
