L’Oréal Groupe has been ranked Europe’s most innovative company in Fortune’s inaugural list of the continent’s 300 most forward-thinking businesses. Announced at VivaTech 2025 in Paris, the list was compiled in partnership with data firm Statista and evaluated companies across 21 countries and 16 industries. The ranking considers innovation across three core dimensions: product innovation, process innovation, and innovation culture.
L’Oréal’s position at the top of the list highlights its ongoing investment in beauty technology, scientific research, and sustainability. The company’s innovation strategy spans from cutting-edge product development to the integration of digital tools and social initiatives across its global operations.
Recent innovation highlights include the launch of L’Oréal Longevity Integrative Science™, aimed at advancing skin health through AI-powered biological diagnostics, and Lancôme Cell BioPrint, a portable device that allows consumers to better understand their skin’s ageing trajectory. In ingredient innovation, the company introduced Melasyl™, targeting pigmentation issues, and UVMUNE 400, a major advancement in sun protection technology.
L’Oréal has also embraced digital personalisation through tools like Beauty Genius, an AI-powered beauty assistant, and Spotscan+Coach, an acne support app developed with dermatologists and mental wellness platform Calm. In sustainability and professional tools, products such as the Water Saver salon showerhead and the AirLight Pro hair dryer aim to reduce environmental impact without compromising performance.
Marketing innovation is also a key focus, with initiatives like CreAltech, a generative AI-powered content creation lab, and the New Codes of Beauty programme in partnership with Meta, designed to support creators working with AR, AI and 3D tools.
With a longstanding culture of innovation dating back to its founding in 1909, L’Oréal continues to combine science, technology and creativity to address evolving consumer expectations while advancing its environmental and social impact goals.
