What is the most exciting aspect of your current role?

Owning a small business is both challenging and rewarding. Having spent the majority of my 20 year career in Communications, starting my own business has opened up further opportunities for learning within other sectors, including Design, Marketing and Finance. It’s a constant evolution of my skillset.

What do you love most about working in the beauty Industry?

The innovation, collaboration and energy and the transformative power of the industry to celebrate women and make them feel good. I’ve met and worked with some amazing people and made life-longs friends. We are inclusive and champion success too!

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone to possess in order you have a successful career?

You need to be adaptable, passionate and driven. Don’t view any negative experiences as failure, but as learning opportunities and learn from everyone you work with.

How important has mentorship been in your career journey?

Hugely so, I've been lucky enough to work for some amazing women throughout my career who have also acted as mentors. My first job at nbpr with the amazing Nancy, taught me so much: tenacity, accountability and commercial acumen. Kelly Marks gave me confidence and continues to give me great career advice. Jo Tutchener-Sharp and Sarah Griffiths championed me and gave me a career changing opportunity at the Estée Lauder Companies. Whilst Anna Bartle expanded my horizons into the corporate arena and Saskia Phillips is the person I go to for honest advice on running a small business. I feel incredibly grateful to have worked with such fantastically supportive women who have shared their experiences, given valuable advice and been there on the occasions when a project has not quite gone to plan or when I am doubting myself.

What’s the most important piece of advice you have been given during your career?

Change is often a daunting prospect, but embrace it and you may just end up somewhere you never thought possible.
