Sophie Dahl sparkles in Lisa Eldridge’s newest video and tutorial, ‘A Beauty Tribute to our Grandmothers – The Makeup and Skincare they loved’.
Lisa Eldridge, renowned makeup artist with a starry roster of A-List clients, sits down in the makeup chair with author Sophie Dahl, as they take an impromptu and often emotive journey through their makeup memories. Sparked by the magic of Sophie’s new children’s book, who’s titular character’s dressing table was inspired by Sophie’s grandmother’s, Lisa’s new tutorial acts as a nostalgia provoking tribute to the legacy of makeup.
In the tutorial, Lisa recreates Sophie’s grandmother’s signature, Tippi Hedren-esque makeup look, punctuated with the pieces from Lisa’s own vintage makeup collection, resulting in a uniquely authentic beauty homage to the 50s.
“Beauty is truly lore, a legacy passed down through the generations and the nostalgia of makeup has such power. I have been so moved reading through the comments – tales of the scent of a face cream bringing back recollections of being sat at a mother’s dressing table, the unstopping of a perfume bottle evoking a rush of vivid memories of a beloved grandmother… It’s a beautiful reminder of the unifying, shared experiences of beauty.”
Lisa shares insider tips and tricks for curating the perfect, elongated flick of liquid liner, pairing it with a sky blue wash of eyeshadow and glowing, seamless skin. The look is finished with Lisa’s ‘Dance Card’ Lip Colour, inspired by the lipsticks from the late fifties and early sixties in Lisa’s vintage makeup collection.
