CEW UK celebrates 17th Annual Achiever Awards
On the evening of Tuesday 6th November, CEW UK held their annual Achiever Awards honouring a prestigious line-up of talent within the beauty industry. The highly anticipated event took place at the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel and involved a host of the biggest brands within the beauty industry. Alongside 300 guests, CEW were pleased to give recognition to the outstanding talent across the industry.
LIFETIME ACHIEVER AWARD
Jane Wurwand, Co-Founder & Chief Visionary, Dermalogica®,The International Dermal Institute® and FITE
The Lifetime Achiever Award was presented to a revolutionary individual whose impact is respected and recognised throughout the industry. The 2018 Lifetime Achiever Award was awarded to Jane Wurwand, the co-founder and chief visionary at Dermalogica. Jane has created one of the leading professional skincare brands that is used by more than 100,000 skin therapists in more than 100 countries. Sally Penford, Education Manager at Dermalogica, presented Jane as the winner of the 2018 Lifetime Achiever Award.
SPECIAL INDUSTRY AWARD
Matthew Moulding, Founder, The Hut Group
The CEW Special Industry Award was presented to someone who had created a fast growing technology unicorn that operates over 100 websites. The Hut Group’s umbrella now includes the likes of GlossyBox, ESPA, Illamasqua, Myprotein, lookfantastic and Mama Mio. CEW presented the Special Industry award to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry, Matthew Moulding. Matthew founded a company that looks after 4,000 employees with an aim to expand rapidly in the near future. Matthew received the 2018 CEW Achiever Award from Viki Tahmasebi, Group Communications Director at The Hut Group.

Nicola Elliott, Co-Founder & Creative Director, NEOM Organics
Nicola Elliott is the co-founder and creative director of NEOM Organics. Having started her career in the industry as a beauty editor, Nicola’s weeks consisted of 18 hour days, 2am phone-calls and consequently, total exhaustion. This ignited a spark to start her own wellbeing journey. NEOM Organics, created in 2005, is a wellness brand that encourages the use of natural and organic ingredients that have positive effects on the body. Presenting her Achiever Award was Oliver Mennell, Co-Founder of NEOM Organics.

Sali Hughes & Jo Jones, Founder, Beauty Banks
Founded in 2018 by Sali Hughes and Jo Jones, Beauty Banks was set up as a non-profit organisation with a mission to provide essential supplies to people who cannot afford them. Julietta Dexter, CEO and founder of The Communications Store presented the award to Jo and encouraged everyone in the industry to get involved with Beauty Banks. Jo accepted the award highlighting in her speech that 1 in 5 people in the UK are living in poverty – 1 in 3 of those are children.

Alison Page, Client & Category Development Director, Global
For the past ten years, Alison Page has guided Global Radio to becoming the voice of beauty. As a CEW Board Member, Alison regularly hosts educational events and successfully brings brands together. Presented by Jo McCrostie, Creative Director at Global, Alison was recognised for her ability to recognise, shape and curate talent as well as her outstanding contributions to the industry.

Sharmadean Reid, Founder & CEO, Beautystack
With the success of her hugely celebrated salon Wah Nails, Sharmadean Reid has continued to build on her influence within the beauty industry by creating her latest platform, Beautystack. Beautystack is a visual booking system for professionals that also acts as a social network for the beauty industry. Presented by Katherine Ireland, Principal at Palamon Capital Partners, CEW were proud to recognise Sharmadean’s amazing contribution to the beauty industry.

Lorraine Dallmeier, Director, Formula Botanica
Despite taking on the brand as a hobby, Lorraine Dallmeier has developed Formula Botanica into the world’s leading accredited online Organic Cosmetic Science School. Establishing the business whilst on maternity leave, Lorraine has since helped train hundreds of entrepreneurs launch successful skincare and beauty brands that are now stocked by retailers worldwide. Jacqui Owens, Head of Beauty at Google UK, joined CEW in presenting Lorraine with the Digital Achiever Award that commends her incredible contributions to the beauty industry.

Lorna Radford, Managing Director, Enkos Developments LtdÂ
Having founded Enkos Developments with a purpose to scale up manufacturing for personal care products, Lorna Radford had previously achieved a First-Class Honours at the University of Cambridge as well as achieving the highest awarded mark for the SCS Cosmetic Sciences Diploma. Having established such success at the age of 27, CEW were delighted to honour Lorna’s accomplishments, by awarding her the inaugural Young Achiever Award presented by Sara Wolverson, Rimmel Global Marketing Vice President at Coty.
