It’s Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month!
Each year in the UK, around 22,050 women and people with gynae organs are diagnosed with one of these cancers. This means 60 people receive this life-changing news each day, and sadly, 21 of them will die too soon.
There are lots of ways you and your company can get involved this Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month with The Eve Appeal, whether you take on board some of their top tips and share them with your colleagues, or take on a fundraising challenge as a team.
It’s so important to know what’s normal for your body so you can spot anything that doesn’t seem right. The Eve Appeal did a recent survey (YouGov) and discovered that 1 in 3 people have never heard of vulval cancer, and 8 in 10 women have never checked their vulva for signs of cancer.
You can read why it’s important to check your body regularly by reading the blog linked here – please don’t forget to share our findings with your team.
We want to make checking for vulval changes as normal as checking for signs of other cancers. To help, The Eve Appeal have set up a free monthly text reminder service. Each month you’ll get a text reminding you to check your vulva, and some information about what to look out for and how to check. The link to receive the reminders is here.
Remember to make sure you are following The Eve Appeal on social media: Throughout September, they will be sharing key information about the five gynaecological cancers and about how you can check and keep track of what is normal for you and your body.
