CEW kick start the 2018 Beauty Awards with a showcase of outstanding innovation and creativity at the Product Demonstration Evening
CEW, the most influential organisation within the British Beauty Industry, marked the first step towards this year’s highly coveted CEW Beauty Awards at their Product Demonstration Evening on Tuesday night. Over 700 CEW members, guests and press descended on Olympia London to witness a showcase of outstanding innovation and creativity and kick start the Awards known as the ‘Oscars of the Beauty industry’.
This year CEW received over 300 entries across 27 categories. Throughout the course of the evening attendees were able to visit brand experts at their stands and witness live demonstrations of the latest and most iconic beauty products available on the market. Guests also had the opportunity to visit the Relaxation Area where they were able to enjoy a glass of prosecco courtesy of Dufry as well as receive treatments from a variety of brands including manicures from Amazon, makeup looks from M&S, Dyson hairstyling from QVC, trials with Benefit’s brand new mascara and appointments with NARS catwalk makeup artists.
The awards this year saw a spread of brands entering from the well-established within the industry such as Liz Earle and Batiste to new innovative and disruptive brands such as Fenty Beauty and Oh K!. With over 300 products being submitted, the awards this year have seen a growth in the skincare, premium and wellbeing categories as well as continued growth in the success of the ‘Eco Beauty Award’ with the support of sponsor Givaudan. The CEW Beauty Awards act as a true trend indicator for the sector and are the only Beauty Awards that are voted for by professionals working within the industry.
Melis del Rey, Beauty Store Manager, Amazon.co.uk expressed her opinion on the value of the awards, “We are delighted to sponsor the CEW Beauty Awards for the second year running. It was exciting to test an array of fantastic beauty innovations and meet many new entry brands. Amazon Beauty is committed to delighting customers with a wide range of products, excellence in customer experience and convenience.”
The Marks and Spencer Beauty team also commented on the importance of the Product Demonstration Evening in terms of networking. “It's always fantastic to be a part of and sponsor the CEW demonstration evening, as it's a good opportunity to see the new and emerging brands and products coming into our industry and to connect with like-minded passionate peers. We always value the feedback and comments gathered at this event, as it's a rare opportunity to have so many beauty brains under one roof."
At the end of the event all attendees received their highly coveted CEW bag, produced and packed by Latest in Beauty and filled with a selection of products from exhibitors such as Hourglass, KIKO Milano and Skin Laundry. Post event all attending members now have the opportunity to test these products out at home before casting their vote for their favourites in each category.
Online voting for the CEW Beauty Awards opens this week and will be closing on Wednesday 14 March so CEW Members can vote to have their voice heard before the Winners Announcement Lunch on Friday 20 April.
