Google has announced the launch of Shoploop, a video shopping platform designed to introduce consumers to new products in under 90 seconds.
Shoploop’s goal is to bring together three things – discovering, evaluating and buying products – all in one place. The app uses video as a main element to help users watch reviews of products without having to leave the app.
Developed by Google’s internal R&D division, Area 120, which tests products on members of the public, Shoploop allows customers to scroll, not through images, but through videos from creators and brands. It blends the social media experience with shopping and is, for the time-being, focussed on hair, beauty and make-up products reviewed by “real people”.
Currently the app is primarily US based, but watch this space as we hope it will be making its way over in the near future.
