A series of four educational workshops will run throughout the opening day of IFSCC 2022. Taking place in Central Hall Westminster, the workshops provide an opportunity to learn more about four important topics in an interactive environment ahead of the Congress Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception on Monday evening. The Educational Workshop series is hosted by the Society of Cosmetic Scientists.

Either way, a very special upgrade offer allows workshop attendees to join the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, sponsors, exhibitors and speakers at the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception in the wonderful Central Hall Westminster.”
Organised jointly with L’Oréal, BSP, CTPA and CEW UK, you will learn more about important topics from a whole host of industry speakers in the interactive environment of these four Educational Workshops;

Morning 9.30am -1.00pm:
Workshop 1 The Science of Beauty Decoded, Myths vs Reality
This workshop is a must-attend for those wishing to better understand the development of cosmetic products and how science can help counter the misinformation about widely-used cosmetic ingredients or products. Bringing international recognised experts from industry, academia and associations together to share insights into the creation of cosmetic and personal care products, attendees will learn how the most demanding quality, efficacy and safety standards are met. Delegates will appreciate the importance of innovation, science and education, and discover the key to developing a legally compliant and successful cosmetic product.

Workshop 2 Cosmetic Regulation & Safety Assessment Update
Want to keep up with the regulatory framework around cosmetic products? This is the workshop for you. With strict animal testing bans in place in the UK, EU and many other parts of the world, the cosmetics industry has been at the forefront of developing alternative approaches to animal testing for more than 25 years. In the first part of the workshop industry experts will highlight recent regulatory developments in the European Union, United Kingdom and China. In the second part, participants will be introduced to New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for safety assessment – an approach for cosmetic ingredients and products without reliance on animal tests.
Supported by CTPA UK
Afternoon 2.00pm -5.30pm:
Workshop 3 Sun Protection- The Consumer & the Science
Photoprotection is increasingly important. This workshop will discuss formulation challenges for solar products. It will explore the importance of sun protection, describe the major types of UV radiation and their impact on human skin at cellular, molecular and biological level. With 90% of skin cancers directly linked to sun exposure, use of sunscreen ingredients in cosmetic products has extensively increased. Find out how evaluation methods and recent research activities ensure sun protection products are environmentally safe, including for aquatic and marine life. A closing discussion with speakers will explore how solar product efficacy is assessed with guidelines and controls set up to ensure consumer protection.
Jointly organised with L’Oréal Research & Innovation, France
Workshop 4 Fragrance, From Creation to Retail Today
Discover how fragrance connects people to products, hear about advances in science that evaluate its influence on mood, and how perfumery is responding to the new era of sustainability. See how the ingredients and creative process that shape the relationship with brands and consumers are influenced by emerging social, environmental and societal trends. This workshop will explore the future for fragrance in a world that is more sensory aware. You will take a dive into the olfactive character and trends behind some recent fine fragrances launched into an ever-evolving retail landscape. Give your noses an olfactive treat!
