Leading skincare brand in the UK, No7, is set to step into the realm of skin health with the introduction of its Derm Solutions collection. This lineup features nine products, including dermatologist-approved cosmetic skincare items and specialised solutions tailored to address key skin concerns. As well as a new free-to-access in-store skincare consultation service combining dermatologist-grade technology with expert skin analysis.
No7 has created the Derm Solutions range and enhanced its in-store expert services in response to the increasing demand for skin health products and knowledge among British consumers. The launch follows more than a decade of research into the healthy skin category, including quantitative research with more than 10,000 members of No7’s proprietary consumer research panel, and product testing on over 5,400 consumers in 49 studies including both clinical studies and real-life trials.
The expert skin category is the fastest growing segment of the skincare market over the last two years, driven by increased consumer demand for healthy skin products and solutions. Research shows that 76% of people in the UK report symptoms associated with unhealthy skin and 38% feeling stuck in a skincare cycle of choosing products that don’t work for their skin. A 2023 survey of medical professionals by the British Skin Foundation4 found that 86% of respondents had observed an increase in patients reporting problem skin issues like rosacea, acne, eczema and psoriasis in the last 5 years.
“Our research shows that many people feel stuck in an ongoing cycle of skincare that doesn’t work for their skin, but they don’t know where to turn for trustworthy expert advice,” said Grace Vernon, Head of Global Cultural Insights and Trends, No7 Beauty Company.
“Over half (56%) of UK consumers find shopping for skincare confusing and almost a third (29%) say they have experienced skin irritation by using the wrong or too many different skincare products. As the UK’s number one skincare brand, we wanted to develop a range and service that gives people access to personalised expert beauty advice and product recommendations, helping them to stop the frustrating cycle of trial and error.”
The range comprises five core products including a cleanser and moisturiser for oily skin, a cleanser and moisturiser for dry skin, plus a clinically proven serum that uniquely balances both oily and dry skin. The targeted treatment solutions include products tackling specific skin issues including blemishes, and aspects of rosacea, psoriasis and eczema.
The No7 in-store Skin Solutions service is a series of three personal skin consultations with No7 Beauty Advisors over a period of 12 weeks. In each appointment, No7 Beauty Advisors use Pro Derm Scan technology to gather accurate readings of the skin, providing a personalised skincare solution and expert support throughout the three month period it takes skin to acclimatise to a new regime.
Research shows that 82% of people who would consider seeing a dermatologist want to do so to get advice on skin health and product recommendations and 90% think beauty brands could be doing more to help educate consumers on skin health.
Dr Emma Wedgeworth, dermatologist, said “Skin conditions are increasingly common, having access to trusted and factually correct information is vital to help people understand their skin and to support them on their journey to better skin health. For milder changes, adapting skincare routines can be a great first step in helping to reset and improve skin health. The Derm Solutions range is well suited to people who need to support their skin barrier with core products that will reset and soothe the skin.”
No7 Derm Solutions will be available nationwide at Boots stores, boots.com and no7beauty.co.uk.
