YSL Beauty have partnered with non-profit organisation Women’s Aid England as part of a global “Abuse is Not Love” programme.
This aims to prevent and fight against Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), a type of domestic abuse. Women’s Aid England is a grassroots federation working together to provide life-saving services in England and build a future where domestic abuse is not tolerated.
YSL Beauty seeks to offer support to Women’s Aid England with a four pillar programme: from funding training sessions for children in schools across the country, to educating our own staff to support customers at counter.
The Four Pillar Programme:
The Safer Futures Project – The project will train Schools Advocates, who will lead on various points in the fight against Intimate Partner Violence. The program will benefit at least 12,000 children and young people.
The Expect Respect Toolkit – This toolkit serves as a guide for teachers and professionals and contains age-appropriate activities that support children through primary education. It provides resources aimed at schools that must ensure gender and sexism education is provided effectively.
Internal Training of the Yves Saint Laurent Beauty teams – Workshops and training seminars are organised for YSL Beauty corporate and front-line teams to understand and identify abusive relationships.
Contribution to Thought Leadership through research – The brand aims to have a long-term impact on the fight against Intimate Partner Violence through contributions to research studies on youth and prevention.
“Intimate Partner Violence is a hidden crime that thrives on silence. We want to break this silence by starting conversations about abuse in our work places, communities and schools, and to raise awareness of this important issue.” Emily Byrne, General Manager UK & Ireland, YSL Beauty.
“As abuse often happens behind closed doors, it is even more reason to raise awareness of it, learn about it and speak about it amongst our peers.” Nicki Norman, Women’s Aid Federation of England.
