The Society of Cosmetic Scientists’ SCS Formulate is the UK’s largest event of its kind, focusing on raw materials, ingredients and formulation services used in creating personal care and cosmetic products took place earlier on this week.
At the exhibition there was the chance to discover every conceivable ingredient, raw material and other vital tool of the trade being used to create innovative cosmetic and personal care products. There was a really positive feeling at the 2019 event and seminars despite concerns over an uncertain future.
This annual event is a unique opportunity to see the new, the innovative, the proven, the everyday and the obscure – everything needed to create, make and market cosmetics for today and tomorrow.
There was a great programme of technical and trend presentations in the Inform and Inspire lecture programmes while a new Sustainability Studio series of lectures was perfectly in tune with the huge importance of sustainability to the show, the industry and the world. We were delighted to see Lorna Radford, of Enkos Developments and CEW’s Young Achiever for 2018 give a talk on K-Beauty Inspirations for the UK Market.
This year’s Formulate event was also a great opportunity to mark 40 years of the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, with key papers through the years highlighted on scrolling screens. Now in its fifth year, the Laura Marshall Award for innovation included some amazing product concepts.
To cap it all, the first evening saw arguably the best SCS Annual Dinner managing to raise over £2,000 for the international cancer support charity, Look Good Feel Better.
