Sephora UK officially opened the doors to its first boutique store concept in the UK on London’s iconic Carnaby Street, introducing a new way to experience prestige beauty in one of the capital’s most creative and culturally influential destinations.

Located in one of Soho’s most popular shopping areas, the 2,691 sq ft boutique has been designed to reflect how customers shop on the high street today. As Sephora UK continues to invest in larger destination stores nationwide, including Edinburgh and the forthcoming Glasgow Silverburn opening, this boutique concept delivers the same premium beauty experience within a more intimate, high street setting.
Created for customers visiting during a lunch break, shopping with friends, or discovering new beauty favourites whilst exploring the city, the boutique combines expertly curated product edits, personalised services and the expertise of Sephora’s Beauty Advisors in a space that feels effortless, inspiring and distinctly London. Following its debut on Carnaby Street, the concept will continue to roll out, with a second boutique opening at Old Spitalfields Market on 30 July.
The celebrations began the evening prior, as media, creators and members of the London community gathered at Jack Solomons Club to mark Sephora UK’s return to London following two years of regional expansion. Guests experienced immersive activations from some of Sephora UK’s most recognised brands, including express touch-ups from Sephora Collection, personalised tarot readings with BYOMA, and bespoke calligraphy personalisation from Makeup by Mario and Tatcha. Hosted by Tiara Sky, the evening was accompanied by music from the Flag Twins, alongside a special performance from the Dhol Drummers.
Sephora UK’s Managing Director, Sarah Boyd, officially cut the ribbon, welcoming customers into the brand’s newest London location. Celebrations will continue throughout the opening weekend, with exclusive brand experiences, limited-edition rewards and surprise moments for customers.
Sarah Boyd, Managing Director, Sephora UK, said:
“Today marks an incredibly exciting milestone for Sephora UK as we officially open the doors to our very first boutique in market. Since returning to the UK, our community has continued to ask for more Sephora locations across central London, so we’re incredibly proud to bring this exciting new format to one of the world’s most iconic shopping destinations after a period of regional expansion.
Everything about this boutique has been designed around how our customers shop today. Whether they’re discovering a new brand during their lunch break, browsing with friends at the weekend or looking for personalised beauty advice before an evening out, we’ve created a space that delivers everything people love about Sephora in a format that feels effortless, inspiring and perfectly suited to the rhythm of city life.
Carnaby Street has always been synonymous with creativity, individuality and self-expression: values that perfectly reflect our own. We can’t wait to welcome both Londoners and visitors from around the world into our newest store as we continue building the future of prestige beauty retail in the UK.”
The Carnaby Street opening represents more than a new store. It marks the introduction of Sephora UK’s first boutique concept, a retail format developed in response to evolving customer behaviour and feedback.
The store offers access to Sephora UK’s curated selection of global beauty brands, from cult favourites and viral sensations to emerging innovators and Sephora’s own label, Sephora Collection.
Customers can shop exclusive ‘Only At Sephora’ brands in person, including rhode, Haus Labs, Makeup By Mario, Merit Beauty, Yepoda and Tower 28, alongside trending names featured within Sephora’s ‘Hot On Social’ edit, such as Tatcha, Tarte, Summer Fridays and Kosas.
Sephora continues to position itself as more than a retail destination, offering personalised beauty consultations, now redeemable, alongside new ‘Beauty Scan’ technology. Using an advanced lens connected to a Beauty Advisor’s device, this technology analyses the skin in detail, assessing hydration and oil levels while supporting more accurate shade matching. These insights enable tailored product recommendations aligned to each customer’s individual needs.
In addition to the in-store experience, customers can shop via the Sephora UK app and join the MySephora loyalty programme. Members earn points on purchases both in store and online, redeemable for exclusive rewards, including products, complimentary delivery across all tiers, and invitations to special events. Additional benefits include early access to new launches, birthday gifts and seasonal offers.
William Oliver, Director of Retail & Restaurant Leasing at Shaftesbury Capital said:
“Sephora’s new boutique on Carnaby Street is part of a high-quality retail mix, that forms an in-demand, genuinely desirable hub for shoppers. That’s down to the experience these brands create, and the sense of discovery that comes from unique products and collections, that evolve to stay relevant and exciting. That’s precisely why Sephora as a brand, and indeed this first-of-its-kind boutique concept, will work so well here.”
